Residence permit for highly qualified specialists, CEOs of companies and their families:

  • registration of a new & acquisition of a “ready-made company” with subsequent obtain of work permit and residence permit. The following options are possible:
  1. visa category B for highly qualified staff,
  2. obtaining a "professional card" for the CEO of the company,
  3. EU Blue Card for highly qualified professionals.
  • status of permanent residence after 5 years,
  • the possibility of applying for citizenship after 5 years (subject to the availability of funds to ensure the residence of the applicant and dependents, after confirming the knowledge of one of the national languages, the legal and social system of Belgium).

Conditions for obtaining a residence permit:

  • sufficient financial resources
  • housing in Belgium (long term rental or property),
  • medical insurance,
  • no threat to public order and security.

Category B visas for highly qualified staff.

The following conditions are required:

  • a diploma of higher or university education (or similar), recognized by the local competent authority. Undergraduate or graduate level,
  • the existence of an indefinite employment contract or for a period of at least 12 months,
  • minimum remuneration (2018) 40 thousand 970 euros per year (including gross income, year end bonuses, double and one-off holiday allowances, benefits in kind, such as accommodation, car),
  • the maximum term of the current permit is 12 months. Possible extension of the visa sequentially for 8 consecutive terms.

"Professional cards" for CEO of the company.

The conditions required by visa B and additionally:

  • the minimum remuneration (2018) 68 thousand 356 euros.

EU Blue Card for highly qualified professionals.

The conditions required by visa B and additionally:

  • the minimum remuneration (2018) 52 thousand 978 euros,
  • the term of the permit is 13 months, with a further extension for another 13 months, and then for 3 years.

Family members of category B visa holders and “professional cards” holders receive a residence permit without the right to work.

Family members of EU Blue Card holders receive a residence permit with the right to work in category B and without additional verification of the labor market.
